SOFT VIBRATIONS

Human–Honey bee symbiosis via sound experimentation. Global branding for Soft Vibrations, a world-first 3 hour live event harnessing the deep vibrations of a working bee hive, using debut technology to turn the humming of honeybees into an ambient electronic score. The Blurr

How to create an identity system for a one-of-a-kind project that could flex and remain relevant to the different countries and cities where it would take place. A global framework that represents the integrity of the project and the location it would be held in. Ranging from the cliff tops of Italy, to a rooftop in Melbourne’s inner North, to a rusty warehouse in Amsterdam – Soft Vibrations is anything but stationary.

Soft Vibrations is an experimental audio project in collaboration with musical expressionists Acid Springfield and Melbourne’s notorious OG urban beekeeper. Honey Fingers. This truly unique event saw bee hives equipped with sensors to communicate the movements and vibrations of a colony of bees. Utilising a portable modular synthesiser designed by Acid Springfield, the live event melds the sounds and vibrations of the colony via sensors placed in and around the hive to create a 3 hour live score for audiences, accompanied by wine, rugs and cheese boards of the finest local ingredients.

The goal: A flexible design identity that holds its strength in any part of the globe.

The Clarity

A fully immersive live event with a visual identity and creative strategy that showcased the soft and gentle personality of a honeybee in a human-led, urban setting.

By channelling the curiosity and drive of its creators, Acid Springfield and Honey Fingers, Blurr produced an adaptable design system that remains relevant to any environment it’s placed in. With a playful logo and type inspired by the humming of bees and the movement and feel of vibrations experienced throughout the day, Soft Vibrations’ identity became a human and honeybee symbiosis.  Showcasing the marriage between the human environment and the honeybee, the brand nods to the light and lively nature of these events, while communicating an entirely new concept; a place where music becomes the connective tissue between technology and nature.
